Chef Ian McDowell got his start by working in some of the best sushi restaurants within the Reno/Tahoe region from 2007 on. From that point forward he honed his skills of preparing expertly crafted sushi rolls and gained a following by preparing off menu items that went outside the box for regular customers. While traveling through California he discovered the burrito sized sushi wraps that places like Sushirrito® had popularized, and decided to bring them to Nevada. Thus Santa Cruz Sushi opened inside the Meadowood Mall food court in late 2015, and had been tantalizing Reno foodies ever since.
